If one is to go by the sound of the new single from newcomer Princess Thundah and reggae icon Luciano, called "Global Warfare" you would have to conclude that this artist will not be unknown for long.
The single follows her debut release "Life Can't Done" which peaked at number 8 on the Jamaica Top 25 Reggae Chart back in 2010, and contains lyrics that are a cut above the normal fare of contemporary dancehall. It is one of the stellar compositions that are on the newly released Question Riddim compilation on 619 Entertainment/VP Records.
The cultural seer known as Princess Thundah was christened as Princess Saulas and hails from the Kingston 11 area where she grew up until she moved to Breton St Catherine. It was at this time while in her early teens that she started to realize her musical calling. In the steamy back yards of Old Breton she would practice on yard sound systems and also perform at area talent shows alongside future stars like I Wayne who remains a good friend. Fate would see her moving to the United States to join her mother relocating in New York City. After school in her late teens she sang and coming into her early twenties she sang with two Guyanese expatriate bands and recorded minimally with some young producers. She also gained experience by touring with the bands doing shows in Canada and the Caribbean.
In 2005, she hooked up with with producers Patrick Dunn and Roger Grant in Philadelphia who took her talent very seriously and started to record her extensively and handling some management duties. This relationship further blossomed into a five year management contract when the producers joined with two others Linval Osbourne and Marcello Johnson to form the 619 Entertainment Group. The company introduced her via the debut single to Jamaican radio and is preparing an album of the same name in order to break her into the reggae market.
With an internet buzz which sees her being regularly rotated on playlist in France. Holland, Switzerland. USA and Australia the faith in this powerhouse of an artist is not misplaced. Princess Thundah’s provocative song ‘Gully & Gaza” and Baby featuring Natural Black have lit up with plays on Youtube and Baby is the B side release on the first cut vinyl edition of Life Caan Done.
The Thundahs states that her music is cultural and revolutionary and insists that Queen Ifrica and Etana need some more help to combat the negativity portrayed by some in the business. From the way it looks the help will come much sooner than later.

"Global Warfare" by Luciano & Princess Thundah 2012
“Music is the food of life and I want to be the host of the feast.” So says Asfa a brand new contender in the reggae music arena.
He is fulfilling his self prophecy with the hot single Not The Life which has charted on several countdowns like The Jamaica Top 25 Reggae Chart , Australia Reggae Chart, Bess FM Culture Chart, Holland Top 25 Reggae Chart and New York Top 30 Reggae Chart.
He was born on July 25th, 1978, and christened Asfa Whyte. His beginnings was a humble one living in a tiny wooden house, in Bedward Pasture a.k.a Dread Heights, in Kingston, with mother Lileith McDermott and father Carl Whyte. He entered into the world as the fifth child of ten siblings. Musical ambitions would be stirred in the young man as his father popularly known as Zebby, a Rastafarian and a member of The Twelve Tribes of Israel sect, would eventually become the road manager for several artists most notably Freddie McGregor.
As a youth, he himself started to exhibit musical talents. He would use whatever natural means he could, to concoct music, the music that fed life into his soul. As his passion grew , Asfa started venturing out into the music world. He joined local musicians that lived in his community, playing with sound systems such as “Travellers”, “Fwresh International”, “Mega Star,” “Dan Force” and “Super G”.
Later on in his life, Asfa realized that he wanted to do more than just playing other artist’s music, he wanted to produce his own. He penned his first song , “King Jesus” a gospel music hymn. He also worked with artists like Judy Mowatt, who recognized Asfa’s talent. He was on his way to fulfilling his dreams, but they were somewhat deferred when his father, who had been in the U.S.A. for several years, petitioned for his children to join him in Queens, NY where he shortly after migrated to.
The migration to the U.S.A., was not as it was portrayed in the movies. Asfa had to work blue collar jobs to make ends meet. Helping his father and mother whenever financially possible. His music, his food, was left on the back-burner for a few years, while he assimilated to the American culture.
As time passed, Asfa’s craving grew stronger. Music was beckoning him to come back, to reach the epitome of his childhood desires. This time not as a dj but as a singer. In August 2011, Asfa met producers Roger Grant and Patrick Dunn of Philadelphia based label 619 Entertainment and in September 2011 Grant flew to Jacksonville, Florida and recorded two singles “Not The Life” and “Bacchanal" with the artist. Asfa later travelled to Philadelphia where the work continued resulting in two more songs “Take a Look” and “Mother I,” the latter dedicated to his late mother. Creating his own imprint Jecoliah Entertainment Production in 2011, and appointing Roger Grant as his manager was an indication of how serious he was this time around.
He launched his career with the single Mother I then followed up with the current hit Not The LIfe which also can be found on the bestselling compilation the Question Riddim album on 619 Entertainment/VP. He is also in the throes of completing an album tilted Journeying to be released on his own label. Two excellent videos for both singles are also out and can be enjoyed on Youtube and other platforms.
The social media is buzzing with the name Asfa and he can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Reverbnation, Whotune etc, and a faltering reggae music scene hungry for new talent of quality is already taking notice.
In January 2013, Asfa released his first digital EP "Take A Look". It's now available at Itunes - Amazon - Junodownload

Sadiki also worked with UK’s Chris Peckings (Bitty McLean, Gappy Ranks) and Lloyd Mullings, Netherlands production 'house/label Area 026 Music', French producers First T & Kross, Japan’s 'Enjoint' and Switzerland's 'HearMeNow! It is rare for a one riddim compilation to maintain a level of quality throughout but The Question Riddim various artists album has achieved this feat. The collection features some familiar stars of the cultural side of reggae; Luciano, Turbulance, Lutan Fyah, Jahmali, Natural Black and Mark Wonder. Some of these stars paired with newer acts in the case of Lutan Fyah with Hefla Nyah on one of the leading tracks "Lies & Tricks" and Luciano with Princess Thundah on "Global Warfare".
This new release reminds many music critics of the nineties compilation 'Lalabella' on which every song proved to be potent and stood up on its own in spite of being on the same instrumental track. On the Question the song-writing is first rate and all of the fifteen compositions deliver strong messages. Chrisinti's "Trust Me", Chukki Starrs "Prepare", Prophecy's "How Could I" and the aforementioned "Lies & Tricks" takes on the political establishment and chides them for poor leadership and dishonesty. Mark Wonders "World Crisis" and "Global Warfare" highlights the chaotic state of the world while Andy Livingstons "One Shepherd" tackles the futility of divisions caused by religion. Asfa's "Not The LIfe" and Jahmali's "What To Talk" mirrors the artist's own personal frustration with injustice while Robert Sutherland, Mikey Tan Ya and Ras Bogle touches on topics of relationships and personal morality. Natural Blacks "Question", the title track, is an anthem for the burgeoning groups advocating for the legalization of marijuana.
The compilation never gets mundane and the general production is good with producers Roger Grant and Bentonn Dunn being careful in not allowing the melodies of the different songs becoming homogenous, The riddim came by way of hired guns Donald Bassie Dennis and Paul Wrong Move Crossdale and the mixes by top flight engineers Rohan Dwyer and Delroy Fatta Pottinger. Background vocals were handled by Carol Dwyer, Carl Morrison, Earl Smith and Marie Smith. The production label is 619 Entertainment and it is distributed by VP Records through its subsidiary VPAL and was released in October on all major online stores.
Singer name's: TurbanX Job: Reggae Artist Location: New York Genre: Reggae Influences: God
TurbanX - Biography: Born north of Kingston, Jamaica, in the Parish of St. Andrew, Turban X (Warren Whyte) grew up as one of ten children. With such a large family, the struggles of life were eminent, but the only thing that had kept him going was the sweet sound of reggae music. Turban X's mother, even though she didn't have much to give her children, she gave them all she had, God. His mother would ensure that the children went to church and afterwards she would quiz them on bible verses which they would have to learn and repeat on a daily basis. A conformation of destiny came at the age of twelve when Turban X's older brother sneaked him out of the house to an open mic stage show out in the street and coached him on stage. With a little encouragement from the crowd he gained confidence and boldly belted out his song as the crowd cheered, his faith was sealed.
Since then Turban X has performed in several venues with some of Jamaica's top reggae artists, such as John Holt, Ernie Smith, Bushman, Brigadier Jerry and Beenie Man. At one point he also opened up for Sanchez. Turban X is not only inspired by the greats of reggae music, but also other genres including The Manhattans, Sam Cooke, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton just to name a few. Turban X is influenced by the various areas of reggae music and has given him a range of songs and types of music he plans to release. Turban X, with his clean lyrics and positive attitude, seeks to break through musical barriers. Currently, he is working on his upcoming album. TurbanX is destined to be a living legend.
